Xfinity Plans

Xfinity divides its pricing and plan names into three regions in the United States: the Northeast, the Central, and the West. As a result, if you live in the Bay Area of California, your Xfinity promotional prices will differ from those in Jacksonville, Florida.

In the Northeastern United States, Xfinity prices are competitive with those of other internet providers in the area, such as AT&T and Spectrum. Specifically, the Performance Pro plan provides 300 Mbps speeds versus Xfinity’s 100 Mbps Performance plan.

The similar price for slower speeds of the Performance plan is due to the fact that you don’t have to sign a contract to get it—and you have to order it online. Other ISPs in the Northeast, however, such as AT&T and Verizon, do not require a contract, to begin with.

The prices that Xfinity charges customers in the Central United States are fairly straightforward. However, you will pay the same promotional price for 300 Mbps speeds as for 600 Mbps speeds. In the Western United States, Xfinity’s slowest plan with 50 Mbps speeds is a good deal. If you only use the internet for yourself, this may be sufficient.

Otherwise, the Fast plan is a better value for couples and families. It provides up to 300 Mbps speeds and costs around $50 per month—not much more than the Connect More plan, but you get a significant increase in bandwidth.

Larger households should consider the Superfast or Ultrafast plans instead. These two plans offer download speeds of up to 600 Mbps and 900 Mbps, respectively. That’s plenty of internet speed to run a home business, and the promotional price for both plans is a steal.

Xfinity is available in 40 states, with the most zip codes served by Xfinity internet in Delaware, Maryland, and Massachusetts.

In the Northeast, the price of Xfinity’s 100 Mbps plan is slightly higher than that of other ISPs such as AT&T and Spectrum. This is most likely because Xfinity’s 100 Mbps Performance plan has no term agreement. However, if you want the freedom of a no-contract plan as well as faster speeds, Xfinity’s Performance plan is a good option. AT&T’s Up to 75 Mbps plan is entirely DSL—an older technology with a history of slow speeds and other issues.

AT&T’s Internet 100 plan, on the other hand, is a DSL and fiber hybrid connection that should increase speeds. The AT&T Internet 100 plan, like the Spectrum Internet® plan, includes unlimited data. It is less expensive than AT&T and Frontier’s gig-speed plans. However, Windstream’s Kinetic Gig is by far the best value (where promotional pricing is considered). Of course, Xfinity’s Gigabit plan comes with an extra 200 Mbps, which may make it the better deal if you need that extra oomph to run a home business or Plex server.

In general, Xfinity’s promotional prices make it a low-cost internet service when compared to other competitors serving similar areas. There are a few exceptions, particularly because Xfinity needs contracts and caps your data at 1.2 TB.

Xfinity Internet Speed

Download speeds from Xfinity range from 50 to 1,200 Mbps. And if you live in the right area (and have a lot of money to spend), you can slingshot yourself into the internet at 2,000 Mbps with the Gigabit Pro plan.

While Xfinity provides download speeds ranging from 50 to 1,200 Mbps, upload speeds range from 5 to 35 Mbps.

Upload speeds of 10 Mbps or higher are likely sufficient to upload YouTube videos or handle a Zoom call from your boss. However, anyone who regularly runs a live stream or sends out large files may require more.

In terms of actual speed performance, you might be relieved to know that Xfinity was ranked seventh out of 38 ISPs in our list of the fastest internet providers. It was also ranked fourth among large ISPs.

Xfinity internet also outperformed some of its competitors, including Frontier, Spectrum, AT&T, and CenturyLink. However, Verizon Fios Home Internet outperformed the competition with some of the fastest internet speeds, owing to its all-fiber network.
